New National Minimum Wage rates announced

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) historically increases every autumn.

The BIS (that’s the old DTI, subsequently BERR and now re-branded again) has now set the new rates to apply from October 2009. The new rates which will apply are as follows:

  • Workers age 22 and over: £5.80
  • Workers aged 18-21: £4.83
  • Workers aged 16-17: £3.57
