Winter 2012
It is clear that 2012 is going to be one of the busiest years in employment law for some time. The good news for employers is that, on the basis of some of the Government’s proposed reforms, 2012 is likely to see the strengthening of employer’s rights in some areas.

Although so far in 2012 (fingers crossed) we have not had the severe weather problems of last year (with its inevitable, consequential absence issues) it is nevertheless a year in which holiday and absence issues will continue to be at the forefront for other reasons, with the Olympics, European Championships and the Diamond Jubilee all taking place over the summer months.

  2. ACAS guidance for dealing with the Olympics.
  3. Court of Appeal case on vicarious liability of employers.
  4. Employment Appeal Tribunal case on redundancy and suitable alternative employment.
